50 young people to be selected as the future of entrepreneurial Britain by the New Entrepreneurs Foundation

The New Entrepreneurs Foundation, the charity behind the UK’s leading entrepreneurial training programme, is on the hunt for the UK’s best young, business-minded individuals to join its 12- month entrepreneur development programme. While 18-24 year olds are three times more likely to write a business plan than the UK average, their efforts are often thwarted by government red tape, increasing competition for funding and lack of the right skills. The New Entrepreneurs Foundation will give 50 young people a helping hand in overcoming these challenges in their entrepreneurial journeys through the provision of start-up skills, personal coaching, business mentoring, paid-work placement and access to business networks.

Those selected for the NEF Class of 2018 will join a legacy of young entrepreneurs who have completed the NEF programme and gone on to succeed. In the last five years, the NEF has helped more than 200 young people launch 100 ventures (63 are currently live), creating 650 new jobs for the UK economy and raising almost £11million in early stage funding.

Neeta Patel, CEO of the New Entrepreneurs Foundation, commented,

“We have a responsibility to help the next generation of UK’s entrepreneurial business leaders as it is these young people that will contribute positively to the future of the UK economy, create jobs and employment. We want to find those young, aspiring entrepreneurs who dream of running a successful business but need help getting started. That is what our programme is about – helping overcome the daunting task of getting a business idea off the ground in the very early days and providing a support network for them to feel safe in taking measured risks.”

Even with uncertainties, such as Brexit, ahead, the outlook for business in 2017 is positive and the New Entrepreneurs Foundation found that a third of young adults are writing business plans and one in ten stated that they will start a business in the next 12 months. To make sure these young people get the very best opportunities to succeed, NEF partners with leading fast-growth businesses to offer valuable work experience to young business leaders and its fast-track learning programme provides the business critical skills required for launching a business and l develop the skills for becoming successful entrepreneurial leaders.
