Fintnews: Hey Brad, Let’s talk about Brexit, Disruption, and whatever else comes to mind….How is it going to disrupt business, in your opinion?

Brad Every negative has a positive… let’s look at the positives… this opens up the door for new services and companies to come in…. There’s opportunity for logistics solutions, …. regtech and consultancies,…. if any problems are created, problems are opportunities for someone….. It’s about being or becoming the disruption beneficiary…… This pretty much comes down to how well you the company are able to adapt. Adaptation is fundamental to business success these days, in a way it never was before…..

Fintnews: Let’s expand on that…

Brad Markets change faster than they ever have done…. We are in a stage of high growth as a sector, technology is adapting and evolving faster than ever before…. Companies need to be able to be part of that change…. Adapt, or better still, integrate into the change, so one changes with it….. This is basically critical for long and even medium term success of any company….You have to be at the front edge, and stay there, to even maintain relevancy….. Failure to be part of the new can only result in being part of the old…. Failure to be part of the future is to be history….. If you’re a startup you have to be aware of everything happening around you, politically and economically, to change, if you haven’t got the ability to change you haven’t got a viable business…..

Fintnews: …So the question is, how to adapt? ….Isn’t adaptation a trait, an ability? …..An organic principle almost…? What’s the difference between innovation and adaptation?….

Brad Adaptation…. It’s a psychological and indeed emotional ability, and in business it’s also a cultural ability. Can a business adapt as an organisation?….. If not, what’s preventing it? ….Is it culture? Individual people? Technology systems? A combination of factors? ……

“Adaptation needs to be a trait, the ability to adapt needs to be structurally embedded within all the departments and components of the business. If the technology is unable to adapt, the company can’t adapt. If key people are resistant to changes, the company can’t adapt. If people and technology can’t or won’t adapt, it’s a reasonable supposition the company or organisation is going to become increasingly less relevant, less efficient, and within a relatively short time, obsolete. Adaptation isn’t an optional thing. Adaptation is a necessity for survival.”……

Brad…. one could say a non adaptive organisation won’t survive, …. a minimally adaptive organisation won’t sustain growth,….. a fully adaptive organisation will prosper…… A disruptively adaptive organisation has the initiative and can lead…..

Fintnews: Would you say adaptation is a minimum requirement: ….. It’s not even innovation. It’s keeping up with a changing environment….Adaptation is a basic and fundamental necessity for survival?

Brad The more changeable and volatile the environment, the more adaptability becomes a vital survival trait. Nature demonstrates this continuously….Willingness for adaptation occurs due to pressure…. If the market or commercial environment is pressuring the situation, adaptation becomes an easier choice than stagnation or inverted growth….. Organisations can find themselves non adaptive when senior decision makers become complacent, comfortable and risk averse…bottom line, really….if you’re serious about surviving disruption…you have to be totally adaptive…even to the point of becoming a new thing entirely.”…
